Treatment of Bruxism/ Grinding

  Ongoing management of bruxism is based on prevention of the abrasion of tooth surfaces by the wearing of a full-width acrylic dental Guard, created to the shape of the individual's upper teeth from a bite mould. There are many different types of Night Guards.  Dr.  Shahidi only recommends the hard acrylic, not the soft plastic night guards.  Flexiguard is the night guard of choice.  It is hard acrylic on the outside, but softer material in the inside for ease of insertion.

Sports Guard:

Dr. Shahidi recommends you wear a sports guard whenever you are in an activity with a risk of falls or contact with other players.  This includes Football, Soccer, Hockey, Skateboarding, Roller blading, Baseball, and many other sports.  Please call the office for details.
